NEW STUDY SHOWS BIODIESEL WILL ADD $24 BILLION TO U.S. ECONOMY

It’s just one example of how the growing biodiesel industry is feeding the U.S. economy through job creation, tax revenues and farm income. “We decided to expand because frankly we’ve had trouble keeping up with demand,” says American Ag Fuels President Steve Lankenau.

The National Biodiesel Board released a new economic study that shows how biodiesel plants are a boon to the U.S. economy as they sprout up across the nation. According to the economic analysis by John M. Urbanchuk of LECG and funded by the soybean checkoff through the United Soybean Board, the aggregate economic benefits of biodiesel include:

    > America’s biodiesel industry will add $24 billion to the U.S. economy between 2005 and 2015, assuming biodiesel growth reaches 650 million gallons of annual production by 2015.

    > Biodiesel production will create a projected 39,100 new jobs in all sectors of the economy.

    > Additional tax revenues from biodiesel production will more than pay for the federal tax incentives provided to the industry. It will keep $13.6 billion in America that would otherwise be spent on foreign oil. This total impact of biodiesel on the economy includes the temporary impacts of construction, the permanent impacts of annual production and the direct value of biodiesel and co-products (glycerin).

EPA Introduces ULTRA LOW SULFUR DIESEL. Ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD) describes a new EPA standard for the sulfur content in diesel fuel sold in the United States, beginning in 2006. This applies to all diesel fuel sold for use in roadgoing vehicles. The allowable sulfur content (15 ppm) is much lower than the previous U.S. standard (500 ppm), which not only reduces emissions of sulfur compounds (blamed for acid rain), but also allows advanced emission control systems to be fitted that would otherwise be poisoned by these compounds. These systems can greatly reduce emissions of oxides of nitrogen and particulates.

Because this grade of fuel is comparable to European grades, this standard may increase the availability of diesel-fueled passenger cars in the U.S., since engines will no longer have to be redesigned to cope with higher sulfur content. European diesels are both more advanced technologically and much more popular with buyers than those available in the U.S.

According to EPA estimates, with the implementation of the new fuel standards for diesel, nitrogen oxide emissions will be reduced by 2.6 million tons each year and soot or particulate matter will be reduced by 110,000 tons a year.

The EPA deadline for industry compliance to a 15 ppm sulfur content was originally set for July 15, 2006 for distribution terminals, and by September 1, 2006 for retail. But on November 8, 2005, was extended by 45 days to September 1, 2006 for terminals and October 15, 2006 for retail. In California, the extension was not granted and will be following the original schedule.

Sulfur acts as a lubricant in diesel, and by lowering the sulfur content there is a corresponding drop in the fuel's lubricity. To achieve the sulfur requirements for the new fuel standards, diesel manufacturers include an additive to keep the fuel flowing smoothly, and to prevent engine damage. A relatively cheap lubricious additive is biodiesel.

ULSD will run in any engine designed for the ASTM D-975 diesel fuels.

A new tax is imposed. A new tax has been added to all petroleum products. The tax is called
The Federal Oil Spill Tax and the rate is $.00119 per gallon on all products. That is just over a tenth of a penny per gallon. Not much per gallon but over $10.00 on each transport load!

Crude Oil hits $72.00 per barrel on Wednesday, April 19th setting a record for the third straight day! This increases the likely hood that pump prices will keep rising as summer nears.

Commercial customer need to keep in mind that as wholesale prices rise the retail street price will also. However, the retail market will lag behind a few days. Bulk commercial customer will see the price increase sooner than the consumer on the street.

Tank Length
Tank Diameter
Does tank have striking plates? If so how thick?

Striking plates are 1/8 - 1/4 inch steel plates that are welded in the bottom of tanks directly below each bung hole. The purpose of a striking plate is to eliminate wear on the inside of the tank shell that would have been caused by repeatedly gauging the tank with either a gauging stick or a plumb bob.

Ware Oil Of PC and Ware Oil & Supply announce the introduction of BioDiesel in Northwest Florida!  BioDiesel is currently the HOT topic in the trucking and marine industries! We will be updating our site in the very near future to include all information in reference to BioDiesel.

Biodiesel
We sell Biodiesel, which is the name of a clean burning, renewable diesel fuel replacement made from vegetable oils or animal fats. The methyl ester of vegetable oil or what we now call Biodiesel is very similar to the petrochemical based diesel fuel that it replaces, so does not require any vehicle or storage modifications. The main benefits derived from using Biodiesel come from the reduction in tail pipe emissions and the diesel fuel consumer can now ensure that their fuel money stays in America rather than going overseas.

Mixing Biodiesel with Petro-Diesel
Biodiesel can be used as a pure fuel or blended with petroleum in any percentage. B5, a blend of 5% Biodiesel and 95% by volume of petroleum diesel has shown improvements in performance, enhanced lubricity and some reduction in emissions. A blend of 20 percent by volume Biodiesel with 80 percent by volume petroleum diesel called B20, has demonstrated significant environmental benefits with a minimum increase in cost.
